Locals carrying flowers in the market is a common sight in India, especially outside temples and in the festival season, you can see the "wholesale flower market" everywhere. Floriculture is all about growing plants for its beautiful flowers. Demand of flowers in India is increasing day-by-day because of a change in human attitude towards social and religious values. Flowers are now used in almost every function in India due to which its domestic demand is also rapidly increasing. The floral industry today use as raw materials in cosmetic and perfume industry and the pharmaceutical sector. In India, one of the first things we noticed, besides the hustle and bustle on the street, was a sweet floral scent. There were vendors lining the street selling their wares—different variations of a simple garland and strands of colorful flowers everywhere. In the temple we saw many people holding flowers in their hands, which they then would place as an offering near different statues of popular deities. |
